The Journey Maketh the Man

Does anyone else spot the irony in Liverpool FC travelling 1200 miles using 4 different transports to arrive at a destination that could result in glory or embarrassment?

Liverpool's marathon journey symbolically represents our arduous season where we start off slightly unusually (runcorn train station instead of Liverpool John Moores Airport), arrive in beautiful Paris (2-0 v Man United seemingly has us back on track) but have to stutter all the way to Bordeaux (pathetic defeat to Reading) and eventually get back on the original plan by flying to Madrid (last 9 home games undefeated and a crushing of Benfica).

But what happens now we are here? We meet a similarly inconsistent 'cup team' in Atletico Madrid who haven't had the pains of such a ridiculous journey....but who will rise the victor? We never wanted to be in the Europa League anyway, but now we are here - what happens?

Will Liverpool be rewarded for their efforts, or punished for arriving at all?
